Marcus Strother

Marcus Strother is the President and CEO of MENTOR California, the California affiliate of MENTOR: The National Partnership, the unifying national champion for expanding quality mentoring relationships for young people.

A father, husband, career educator, youth and community advocate, he is a veteran in public education. Marcus spent eight years in the classroom and nine as a high school administrator, most recently as Director of Youth Development at Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD). At SCUSD he oversaw the district’s Expanded Learning Programs, Summer Programming and Boys and Girls of Color initiatives, which included the coordination of the Men’s Leadership Academy (MLA) and Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA). The program focused on supporting youth in the development of their personal social justice framework through civic engagement and community building.




Nathan Houston

Director of Youth Development

Nathan Houston is the Director of Youth Development in charge of Training and Program Development for MENTOR California. Nathan has 22 years of Expanded Learning experience and is a Sacramento native. Nathan is a past recipient of the Emerging Leadership award from CDE Expanded Learning Division and has presented a variety of workshops in every Expanded Learning Region in California. Most recently, was Director of Professional Development for Center for Fathers and Families MASTERS Expanded Learning program where he supported programs in SCUSD, TRUSD, and NUSD.






Sienna Sepulveda

Affiliate Data and Operations Manager

Sienna Sepulveda is the Affiliate Data and Operations Manager, and joined the Mentor California team in August 2023. Prior to joining the team, Sienna worked in the compliance and audit space for 6 years. Sienna enjoys working in roles that are of service to others, support policies and empower youth and young adults. Building caring and supportive relationships is the center of Sienna’s work, and she is excited to be a contributing member to the vision and mission of Mentor California.
