Privacy Policy

Who we are

This site is operated by MENTOR California. You can contact us at info@mentorcaliforniayouth.org.

By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of this information by MENTOR as outlined herein. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of which information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it. Since this privacy policy may change from time to time, you should check back periodically.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

MENTOR California collects your first and last name, email address, zip code, and what types of volunteering opportunities you would be interested in.

We use the information we collect about you to help facilitate the volunteering process. Programs need this information to begin your application. Please be aware that, to the extent required to provide our services, we share your information with other volunteers or nonprofit organization partners. If you indicate on our site that you are interested in a particular mentoring opportunity and provide us with your contact information, we will forward your contact information to the organization that is hosting that opportunity so that the organization can contact you regarding your potential involvement.

We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag, which drops a cookie on your web browsers whenever you visit the site. The LinkedIn Insight Tag enables the collection of data regarding users’ visits, including the URL, referrer, IP address, device and browser characteristics (User Agent), and timestamp. The IP addresses are truncated or hashed (when used for reaching users across devices), and users’ direct identifiers are removed within seven days in order to make the data pseudonymous. This remaining pseudonymized data is then deleted within 180 days. We do not receive the personal data of users; we only receive reports and alerts (which do not identify members) from LinkedIn about our website audience.

MENTOR is concerned about the privacy of young children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from any child under 13. Children under 13 may not register for or use any area of our website that requires personally identifiable information. We suggest that you become involved with your child’s access to the Internet and to our website to ensure that their privacy is well protected.

When you click on links and/or ad banners that take you to third party websites, you will be subject to the third parties’ privacy policies. While we support the protection of privacy on the Internet, MENTOR cannot be responsible for the actions of third parties or the content on their websites. Who we share your data with

MENTOR will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone. MENTOR will send personally identifiable information about you to other organizations when:

  • We have your consent to share the information (as in the Mentoring Connector database)
  • We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process
  • We find that your actions on our website(s) violate the Terms of Use or any of our usage guidelines for specific products or services

We share truncated or hashed IP addresses with LinkedIn through our LinkedIn Insight Tag, as well as data regarding users’ visits, including the URL, referrer, device and browser characteristics (User Agent), and timestamp. We do not receive the personal data of users; we only receive reports and alerts (which do not identify members) from LinkedIn about our website audience.

You may request the information you submit to us be edited or deleted by sending an email to info@mentorcaliforniayouth.org.
